Structure, content and mobility component

A full-time two-year postgraduate master course, 120 ECTS throw 4 semesters. An interdisciplinary top-quality study program, research&job oriented, split in lectures, tutorials, seminars, laboratories, workshops, working groups, distance learning, field trips, internship and project-works. The programme offers students a personal tutor, 1:1 tutorial support as well as support of small group working.

Structure. The duration of this Master course is two year full-time. It is allowed a part-time duration of five years too. It’s possible to move from full-time to part-time study and vice-versa to accommodate any external factors such as financial constraints or domestic commitments or job (not applicable for scholarships).
The teaching year begins in September and ends in August. The reCity has been structured around four core project-based laboratories. In the reCity there are also study trips. At the end of the two integrated pathways of UFs that compose the reCity, a supplementary bridge between research, education and labour market is offered by an internship and a research-based thesis.

For internship, (European students are eligible for a mobility option in a Third-country partner, too) each student has a personal supervisor on site in the workplace and a shared tutor/mentor.

Content. The course content of the ReCity is related with the current state of the art in the fields concerned, focusing as research area the solutions to the highlighted complex City challenges. The focus of the course content is the Design of the City regeneration, pursued with an holistic and inter-disciplinary approach based to improve, in the beneficiaries, those educational and professional competences necessary to be key actor inside the complicated process of urban recovery and transformation, in terms of design, communication, building and management of the contemporary city regeneration, in conformity with the acquis communautaire and European standards and best practice of the world.
The course progression underpins student progression to achieve the best learning outcomes, and allow individualised paths.

Mobility Options. Mobility periods are mandatory, and include a volume of study/research or equivalent (e.g. field work, laboratory activities, work placement or thesis research, etc.) corresponding to at least 15 ECTS for Third-Country HEIs plus 30 ECTS for European HEIs, if students are category B or 2 terms of 30 ECTS for European HEIs, if students are category A.
In the 1st and a part of the 2nd semester students are based in Catanzaro (Italy), in plenary session; during second semester they leave for a study tour in Europe or Third-Countries and choose, accordingly with their interests to move in Paris (France) or Valencia (Spain), where stay since the 3rd. In this period the student population is divided in two groups ; 4th they move to European/Third-Country enterprises/practices for internship and will come back in Catanzaro to complete their Master's thesis.
